The Taunus Foto Galerie presents an exhibition by Yi Sun, entitled Flow: Transient Echoes which is presented as follows:
Yi Sun was born in 1982 in China and moved to the United Kingdom in 2000. In 2009, he won a competitive scholarship and completed his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at the University of Cambridge. He now leads his own research group at the University of Birmingham, which is designing new treatments for cardiovascular disease. From a young age, Yi was deeply attracted to the visual arts. Combined with his love of nature, this motivated him to become an aerial photographer. Yi’s approach to aerial photography is academic, analytical with a sense of artistic romanticism. He strives for the best composition and is not afraid to use bright colors to provoke deep emotions in his viewers. He focuses on both wild and unmanipulated nature, as well as human influence on our planet.
His photographs are taken in flight aboard light aircraft or helicopters with open doors or without doors. He has a signature style of shooting directly at the landscape, while the plane turns in aerobatic manoeuvers.
