Simone Klein, former Head of the Photographs Department at Sotheby’s Europe, has been appointed Global Print Sales Director at Magnum Photos. She will be based in the Paris office and will oversee the print sales strategy and activities across all of Magnum’s offices. This appointment is part of a wider revitalisation at Magnum Photos since David Kogan joined as Executive Director of Magnum Photos International in 2014.
Klein studied art history, literature and linguistics in Bonn and at the Sorbonne in Paris. She went on to work as an assistant at the Kicken Gallery in Cologne, and then as Director of the Photographs Department at Kunsthaus Lempertz auction house. Between 2009 and 2015 she was Head of the Photographs Department at Sotheby’s Europe.
Klein will be in charge of developing the global strategy for Magnum’s Print Sales activities, working with vintage and contemporary material, art fairs and print room programming, as well as growing the Magnum Collectors Circle.
