Simone Kappeler, Fleur

Hasselblad, Leica, Diana, Brownie, Polaroid, disposable camera, outdated films or infrared… Since 1970, Simone Kappeler has explored every photographic technique, brought in colourisation, an artistic fuzziness and even distortions to multiply the diversity and complexity of vision and perception. She uses film stock that’s no longer made and takes extreme care with the prints. Her work, experimental and poetic, exposes the world that surrounds us. Simone Kappeler tackles the near as well as the distant. She photographs her family, changes the colours of alpine landscapes with the use of infrared sensitive film and freezes the fragile beauty of flowers under the X-ray camera of her neighbour who is a doctor.
