Schirmer / Mosel: The Showroom

Preview

Schirmer/Mosel Showroom is a Munich gallery space and bookstore founded in 1998 by the publishing house Schirmer/Mosel. The showroom is situated in the beautiful arcades running along the Hofgarten, first built in the 17th century and then restored after World War II. This baroque garden has inspired artists from T.S. Eliot to Giorgio de Chirico, and is today the heart of the historic center of Munich.

Since 1998, the Showroom has welcomed several exhibitions each year, into its two-level, 130m2 space. Many but not all of them are held in conjunction with the launch of a book published by Schirmer/Mosel. Among the artists who have been exhibited: Martin Assig, Bernd & Hilla Becher, Laurenz Berges, Joseph Beuys, Karl Blossfeldt, Ecke Bonk, Henri-Cartier Bresson, Anton Corbijn, Gerrit Engel, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Wilfried Hösl, Axel Hütte, Kahlo/Muray, Barbara Klemm, Ute Klophaus, John Loengard, Alex MacLean, Simone Nieweg, Max Renkel, Bettina Rheims, Jörg Sasse, Thomas Struth, Christopher Thomas, Cy Twombly, Hellen van Meene, Ellen von Unwerth, Cornelius Völker, Stephen Waddell and Wim Wenders.

The current exhibition at the Showroom is « Thomas Struth – St. Petersburg », from June 5 to September 2012.
