On January 27, 1985, Hélène Roger-Viollet, founder of the Roger-Viollet Agency, tragically passed away. A trained journalist and a great traveler, she devoted her life to documenting and enriching the agency’s collections. The eldest of the six children of Henri Roger, an engineer and amateur photographer, accumulated 6 million photographs that have been on display at 6 rue de Seine in Paris since 1938. The collection, bequeathed to the City of Paris in 1985, is now held by the Bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris.
