The jury of this 32nd edition of the Roger Pic Award chose the series Sweats and Tremors by Corentin Fohlen / Divergence.
He thus joins the prestigious winners of the Roger Pic Award awarded by Scam.
Violence in Haiti has a long history; that of the colonial past, of this little piece of island which enriched European empires through its human, geological and geographical exploitation. It is also the story of the desire of a slave people to free themselves and take by arms an independence for which these same dispossessed powers made them pay dearly for the affront. Through a documentary project started in 2022 and continued in 2023, integrating certain photo archives from 2010, Corentin Fohlen has developed a reflection on the way in which a people and a nation are forged through the torments of history.
Corentin Fohlen has been an independent photojournalist since 2004. In 2010, he began committed documentary work on Haiti which aims to show the wealth of a country constantly reduced to its poverty alone. He is the winner of several photographic awards including two World Press Photo and a GOLDEN VISA. He was also nominated for the prestigious Nadar Prize in 2020 and the Niépce Prize in 2023.
