The acclaimed photographer Richard Misrach created a new series of images in collaboration with Alonzo King LINES Ballet, the internationally celebrated contemporary ballet company. For this work, Misrach photographed the LINES Ballet dancers at a remote location in Hawaii. The images will be integrated into the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Spring Season 2023 performances. This is a rare opportunity for viewers to experience visionaries of these two disparate mediums bridged in their decades-long explorations of the natural world.
For over 50 years, Richard Misrach has been considered one of the most significant and influential photographers of the landscape, helping to pioneer the renaissance of color photography and large-scale presentation that are in widespread practice today.
Alonzo King’s legacy is marked by his interdisciplinary and cross-cultural contemporary ballet performances that continually remind us of the beauty and mystique of our natural world. Past collaborations have included artist Jim Campbell, the Shaolin Monks, the BaAka tribe of the Central African Republic, and musician Jason Moran, and Kronos Quartet.
