The American fashion photographer Richard Ballarian moved to Paris in the mid-1970s. His encounter with the city inspired Ballarian to devote himself to art photography.
Richard Ballarian was born to an Armenian father and Scottish mother in Pittsford, a suburb of Rochester, New York. When he was fifteen, he began developing his own photographs in a small dark room under the staircase in his family home.
The guest of honor at the 2013 edition of Paris Off at the Bellevilloise in November, Ballarian has just completed an exhibition in London. A retrospective will take place in Paris in March.
