Herve Guibert
On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Hervé Guibert, Les Douches la Galerie is devoting to him a new personal exhibition from November 5, 2021 to February 5, 2022. Through a selection of self-portraits, this exhibition explores his inner world and questions autofiction in photography.
Hervé Guibert is a French writer and photographer. Photo critic for Le Monde, he is the author of some thirty books, including In particular To the friend who did not save my life, which played an important role in the evolution of the attitude of the French public in the face of AIDS. Hervé Guibert, who has written in the wake of Jean Genet, Hermann Ungar and Thomas Bernhard, has also produced a large body of photographs, like a diary. As in his writings, he practices autofiction in his photographs, and his images feed on his everyday life and intimacy.
