The musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac is launching a call for projects for the 2nd edition of its new Photography Prize. Applications are open until March 19, 2023 inclusive.
With the creation in 2022 of the Prize for Photography, the museum wished to reaffirm its historical and lasting commitment to serving contemporary photographic creation outside Europe.
The Prize is aimed, in the wake of its biennale program and photographic residencies, at individual or collective photographic artists, originating from one of the four continents represented in the museum’s collections – Africa, Asia, Americas, Oceania. The annual selection of winners is carried out, after a wide call for applications, by an international jury.
Each year, the museum finances the creative work of the three winners, selected on the basis of an original project, consistent with their artistic trajectory. It is also in charge of the final production of a selection of images of these works which then become part of the museum’s collection. The endowment, including copyright for the entry of the work into the collections, amounts to 30,000 euros for each winner. Focused on demanding photography practiced all over the world, the Prize is not limited to documentary practice and is open to broader forms of image production.
