Chantal Nedjib, an image consultant for photography, and Sophie Bernard, a photography journalist, have teamed up to write a practical guide to awards, residencies, scholarships and other professional awards dedicated to photography. This book is intended primarily for photographers and patrons, and more broadly for the entire ecosystem of photography.
It is a user manual to decipher the rules and uses of awards in order to derive the greatest benefit and avoid pitfalls.
Why this book?
Starting from the observation that the awards, residencies and photographic grants are more numerous, the authors wanted to understand the tools of this craze, the interest of the patrons to create them, the motivation of the photographers to participate.
To support their points of view, they interviewed two hundred professionals – heads of institutions, curators, publishers, galleries, photographers, observers, patrons, journalists and collectors – on the impact of the main French awards recognized in the sector. of photography. Seventy of them provided their insights and comments:
At the end of the book, the reader will find an inventory of the main awards enjoying a reputation and recognition of the profession in France.
