The project I showed at the portfolio review is called Boy’s Momma: My Favorite Mother. It is a series of portraits made with my mother since my father’s passing in late 2010 when I moved back in with her. The project is under development and it’s intention is to be both a still and motion capture project. The goal of this project is to tell more of the story of my mother’s survival. She has led a difficult life with many obstacles in her path, and yet she ultimately remains an extremely positive person with an incredibly uplifting attitude.
Michael Dote, 27. I was born and raised in downtown New York, and I currently live in an apartment that has been occupied by my family since 1914 with my mother, her boyfriend Angelo and our overweight dog PJ.
