The Hugo Boss 2018 Award is considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in contemporary art. The organization announced nominees for its next edition. Among 7 others possible winners, French-Moroccan photographer Bouchra Khalili was appointed. She will compete alongside Simone Leigh, Teresa Margolles, Emeka Ogboh, Frances Stark and Wu Tsang.
The prize is awarded by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation (New York, USA). The award celebrates the work of accomplished artists and influencing by their works our era. The winner will be exposed in the museum.
Bouchra Khalili was born in Casablanca, Morocco. She currently lives and works between Berlin and Oslo. She graduated from the Sorbonne Nouvelle and the University of Cergy. His work mixes photography, videos, installations and impressions and seeks to give voice to political or sociological minorities. It has been exhibited at Documenta 14 in 2017, at MoMA and MACBA de Barcelona in 2016, at the New Museum in 2014 and at the Palais de Tokyo Triennale in 2012.
Bouchra Khalili is also nominated for the Prix Artes Mundi 2018.
