The Eye of Photography asked the galleries exhibiting at Photo London to each present five photographs to be purchased. Ibasho Gallery has selected works by Toshio Shibata, Asako Narahashi, Miho Kajioka, Yoshinori Mizutani, Daido Moriyama, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Nobuyoshi Araki.
For Toshio Shibata the gallery brought new work showing bridges designed by Luxembourg architect Laurent Ney in the Benelux (see image), rare vintage prints from his earliest photographic work made while he lived in Belgium (see image) as well as some of the classic images such as the Red Bridge and the Grand Coulee Dam.
They are showing Asako Narahashi’s signature work of Mount Fuji as well as rare early Black/White prints from the 1990’s unseen in the West (see image), and introducing Miho Kajioka to the London market, with skilful and inventive dark room work, her prints are of a startling beauty (see image). Of Yoshinori Mizutani they will be presenting one of his latest series Rain as well as some sought-after images from his greatest success Tokyo Parrots (see image).
The three masters of Japanese photography, Araki, Moriyama and Sugimoto, are represented by iconic images from the gallery collection.
