The Eye of Photography asked galleries exhibiting at Photo London 2017 to select five photographs to buy. Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire decided exclusively to show Karen Knorr’s last series, The Lanesborough (2015), taken in a former hospital that is, today, one of the most expensive and luxurious hotels in the world. As in her former series Fables, or more recently India Song and Monogatari, the artist inserts animals, often wild, into her compositions. It is always about blurring the boundaries between humanity and animality, rationality and brutishness, and, of course, above all… nature and culture. An elegant satire!
