This year’s Photo l.a. – a satisfying weekend filled with something for everyone. Old pictures, new pictures, famous pictures and pictures hoping to be famous. Panels, classes, printers, passion projects and non-stop conversations. Twenty-five years after its founding Stephen Cohen and Claudia Bartlett have figured out how to put on an event that Angeleno’s flock to see.
It’s a show for collectors, photographers, students and people who just love photography. Imagine the scene on opening night. The pictures are hung, the lamps are aimed, food and drink are out and the gallery owners are ready. The crowd rushes in and the good times begin. Behind the scenes though, it has been months of preparation to make this evening ready, the part you usually don’t see. So I thought I’d make a few pictures during the days of set-up to give you a taste of the work that goes into it. Don’t worry, there are plenty of pictures of the event too, I just thought you might like to see some of the effort that goes into making it look effortless.
