It was in 2003 that the first photographs appeared in Aubrac, thanks to the symbiosis of volunteers with a photographer fascinated by the Natural World, to culturally open up this superb region away from the large urban centers then in fashion.
After a few chaotic periods of adolescence, the passage, in 2012, to Jean Pierre Montiel, Arles photo-reporter well trained by the Rencontres d’Arles, brought a new dynamism to the event which then grew very steadily in power, until this very promising event the 2021 edition.
Phot’Aubrac becomes, with Arles and Perpignan, an essential passage for photographers and for informed amateurs. The specificity of Phot’Aubrac is Photography! It is not a repetition, it is true which is not the case in a large numbers of festivals or exhibitions. Photography Phot’Aubrac style is about quality, sincerity, mastery and sensuality. About sixty exhibitions revolve around photographs highlighted in rural settings as unusual as they are authentic. Where are the very competent photographers? They hide behind their photographs to better share with all the visitors these dinner conferences which open the door to exchanges as friendly as they are limitless.
In Nasbinals, Laguiole and in their surroundings – money is not yet the sinews of war – Photography is shared with these exceptional landscapes and these warm inhabitants.
