I have brought together the works of three photographers who add an extra touch to the simple click of the camera. The management of the composition, the color or the choice of the subject modify our gaze to demand more from the images than a simple representation of a given subject.
Phot’Aubrac 2021: Annie Dorioz
I really liked the principle of wanting to return man to his behavior and his environment. The graphic options that have been taken highlight the role of an important composition in a speech. I imagine that a greater harmony in the formats would provide a structure in the continuity of the message. In this research, the format participates both in the image and in the harmony of the series.
Phot’Aubrac 2021: Christian Baillet
Discovered, after a few hundred meters of an invigorating morning walk in the heart of nature, Dominique Sauvage’s stable displays Christian’s photographs. In this rather intimate place, African women are presented like a light gust of wind. At a time when the heat is fading and the alleys get animated, the semi-slow poses allow saturated colors to deliver portraits that are at the same time ghostly, cultural and very accurate.
Phot’Aubrac 2021: Thomas Caryn
The work of Thomas Caryn takes us on a very different path, which takes us into wastelands of life. All these places, formerly represented a certain ease of life for their time, and then fell into disuse after their abandonment. The atmosphere is perfectly reproduced by the very well controlled photographic image. The framing, the light, the color, the depth of field everything is there to install us in a decor which is not one. If objects can exalt a soul, the proof is made that this is also valid for certain places.
