We’re halfway through February, and therefore a quarter through the Fall/Winter 2012-2013 collections. New York finished yesterday, and London begins today, it’s fashion week madness. Had I run with my initial selection of fashion images, you might still be clicking through to next week’s Milan shows. But alas, we’re busy people.
At W magazine in New York, busy people still find time to play. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot these images for their March issue, in Betty Page-play-mode.
For Italian Vogue’s March issue, photographer Tim Walker was getting in his own playful mood in these photos featuring the very doll-like model Lindsey Wixon, and her own larger-than-life doll.
Lachlan Bailey captured these more moody images of model Jamie Bochert playing on swings in some sort of lonely studio set playground for The Last Magazine’s spring issue.
In Love’s issue #7, Toby McFarlan Pond stuck model Daisy Lowe to the glass in this feature on jewelry, while the great Sølve Sundsbø put his girls in a lineup for the same issue in what could be Louis Vuitton’s official Olympic sychronized swimmers.
But Sergi Pons went ahead and put model Beegee Margenyte in the water for Schön magazine’s issue #16, followed by Marcus Ohlsson in his shot of Heidi Mount for VS’s spring issue.
In Vman Magazine’s issue #25, Willy Vanderperre posed 12 top models in a Calendar Girls story, while Txema Yeste captured the strength of singer Nomi Ruiz in Tush’s winter issue.
Meanwhile in Kenya, photographer Alice Hawkins gathered locals and models alike in Nairobi in a polemic story for Love’s issue #7.
Playing make-believe in Vogue US’s February issue with actor Aaron Eckhart and model Lara Stone, Peter Lindbergh snaps a moment from another decade, while the actress Kirsten Dunst poses naturally for photographer Yelena Yemchuk in this image for Italian Vogue February issue.
Working with shadows and light seems like child’s play for fashion designer turned photographer Hedi Slimane, especially in these beautifully captured photos for i-D’s pre-spring issue.
But when you’re a teenager, being silly is simply not something one admits to, unless you’re working with Isabelle Chapuis for Citizen K’s winter issue. Perhaps a time some might be less thrilled about revisiting. But in retrospect, everything’s funny, isn’t it…?
