The winter holidays are just around the corner, and before we know it, we’ll be clinking champagne glasses and ringing in 2013 (oh yes, already). So that’s why in this month’s round up of fluffy fashion images, some might feel a sense of overall calm, telling us it’s time to reflect upon the past 12 months, while others might appreciate a few random moments of peace between the holiday shopping frenzy and the standard end-of-year craziness.
Whichever it may be for you, don’t let yourself feel too overwhelmed by it all, drowning in the lists and chores. In fact, try to float above it all, as Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott demonstrate with Russian beauty Natalia Vodianova for W magazine’s December issue. And remember to breath deeply, as model Asia Bugajska tries, even with her veil, in this image for the latest issue of Rev magazine by Djamel Boucly.
Enjoying a subtle breeze that graces your face helps to calm the nerves too, as Greg Kadel points out in his peaceful yet determined images of Kendra Spears in i-D’s Winter issue. And in a less determined manner, model Mirte Maas lives in her moment, beautifully captured by photographer Annemarieke van Drimmelen for Vogue Holland’s latest issue.
Moments of solitude, like those shot by Jason Lee Parry for Human Being Journal’s Fall issue of Teresa Oman, or by Koray Birand of model Samantha Gradoville for Harper’s Bazaar Turkey’s latest issue, can be great for soothing the soul.
Another key element for creating a sense of calm is nicely illustrated by photographer Andreas Ohlund for Cover magazine’s issue 82, of model Melissa Stasiuk – laughter is the best medicine. And who better to have a laugh with than your “BFF,” as the duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott once again show by pairing pals Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell for Interview Russia’s December issue.
Animals have also been known to have calming effects on humans, as model Oxana Moiseeva and her rabbit have a laugh for photographer Agata Pospieszynksa in Petra magazine’s recent issue. Though the sun has powers of its own, as Zoltan Tombor tests out his theories on model Laura O’Neall for Nero Homme’s Winter issue.
Photographer Milos Nadazdin also gets model Natasha Vojnovic soaking up some rays, in these images for ELLE Serbia’s December issue, and in the Fall/Winter issue of Under the Influence magazine, photographers Suzie Q and Leo Siboni capture Awa Ceesay in a textured yet shady shot.
Deep in shadows is where Annemarieke van Drimmelen thought model Elise Crombez would work best for Rika magazine’s latest issue, but in Vogue Holland’s December issue, she put the same model in a brighter more colorful mood in these cinematically inspired images.
