It’s a challenge narrowing down a selection of stunning fashion and beauty features published in Western and Eastern Europe, the UK, and along the Mediterranean, but one must begin somewhere.
Starting from the top, Mert & Marcus photographed some noteworthy futuristic yet retro images for Britain’s LOVE magazine in their Spring/Summer 2011 issue. And the photographic duo don’t stop there. In France, they shot for Emmanuelle Alt’s second issue as newly appointed Editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, a graceful Kate Moss in a technicolor versus black and white world of haute couture.
Next door, German Vogue interprets the recent couture collections with Greg Kadel photographing some up-and-coming beauties in very natural portraits that evolve into more stylized images. A beautiful interpretation. Kadel also shot the cover of French Numero, issue #122, featuring the top Malgosia Bela and a very well-behaved leopard. The inside story is striking amidst gigantic aloe plants and towering bamboo stalks, not to mention the clothes.
We find Malgosia Bela once again, this time in Turkish Vogue’s April issue, photographed by Cuneyt Akeroglu in a fashion spread featuring a subtle array of feathered friends.
Much further north, Swedish ELLE enlisted Andreas Sjodin to photograph model Rosie Tupper in dreamy yet edgy summer moments for their May issue’s cover story.
In a tribute to summer, ELLE Spain and Madame Figaro in France put top model Daria Werbowy to work on the beach in their own separate features. For Spanish ELLE, the Canadian photographer Derek Kettela produced a large summer story on her, adding a little more “caliente” to this otherwise very down-to-earth beauty. While for Madame Figaro, Satoshi Saikusa went “au naturel”, in poses that evoke an easygoing sexiness.
And to end, we look at ELLE in the Ukraine, who is celebrating their 10 year anniversary with a beautiful cover and inside story photographed by Stefano Galuzzi.
