Incredible but true, this takes place in La Rochelle. An exhibition, a real one, with physical works judiciously arranged in a real scenography adapted with a firework of images in the place they invest. This well-designed space is the library of media of this city . This photographic show is a dictionary of music and not just any music. It is Pascal Kober’s Jazz.
Since the 1980s Pascal has been trying to bring together, even link, with positive results the atypical sounds of the evolution of Jazz and his images which share the same instincts and the same provocations.
At the end of a long work for creation of exhibitions and a book: An ABC for Jazz Lovers (the book in French: Abécédaire amoureux du Jazz). The book is as sober as it is fun, as educational as it is an incentive for the discovery of an Universe still too little known. The exhibitions linked to the book and adapted to their audience are to be discovered at the first opportunity.
To introduce some of Pascal Kober’s works I have deliberately chosen a serial of close-up portraits. We are in the intimacy of the performers who draw us into their thoughts, into their worlds of Elsewhere. The image is no longer descriptive to recognise a star of the musical world at the corner of the street, these images create a sharing and a communion of sensations, that is what Jazz is. To dream without restraint.
