Galerie Suzanne Tarasieve presents a solo show of Juergen Teller, with two different sets of works. First a series of iconic portraits of American writers, actors, photographers, film directors and celebrities. Teller’s provocative interventions in portraiture subvert the conventional relationship of the artist and model. Whatever the setting, all his subjects collaborate in a way that allows for the most surprising poses and emotional intensity. Driven by a desire to tell a story in every picture he takes, Teller has shaped his own distinct and instantly recognizable style which combines humour, self-mockery and an emotional honesty.
The other set of works is an unseen series that will be revealed for this edition of Paris Photo Los Angeles and will simultaneously be published in SYSTEM magazine which goes by the title Kanye, Juergen & Kim. After photographing Kanye West for T, the New York Times style magazine, Juergen Teller focused on Kanye West and Kim Kardashian as a couple. Teller stages them, shifting from the role of the photographer to becoming an actor of the series.
