The School Gallery, a contemporary art gallery created in January 2008 by Olivier Castaing, occupies a privative house in the middle of Le Marais, a nice district of Paris.
For this first edition of Paris Photo Los Angeles, the School Gallery presents photographers Nicolas Dhervillers (France), Susanna Hesselberg (Sweden), Joakim Eneroth (Sweden) with a selection of their latest work and the French/Mexican photographer Ricardo Bloch with his series “Washington Park West”, “Denver Colorado”, “Summer” 1978. Born in 1946, Ricardo Bloch has been exhibited for the first time in 2008 at Olivier Castaing’s invitation. These series, with the exception of about ten photographs, had never been printed, this exposure was a revelation for the photographer himself who discovered thirty years latter his work in print. Christian Sarramon with his series “Coca Cola Landscapes” is also exhibited.
The gallery offer a space that allows a dialogue between the photographers chosen to take part of this event.
A particular focus is given to the work of Nicolas Dhervillers, with whom the gallery has been collaborating for almost 3 years.
His last series Behind the Future, is devoted to the iron and steel site of Volklingen.
