The House of Guerlain presents an exhibition dedicated to the Little Black Dress, in collaboration with Jean-Luc Monterosso, Chinese photographer Liu Bolin and Gobelins, l’École de l’image. In a broad spectrum of distinctive images, Guerlain presents the vision held by a number of artists of this legend in the collective imagination.
The perfumer thus pays homage to the fabled garment that served as inspiration for the incomparable adventures of the French perfume of the same name. The fragrance’s irresistible notes resonate with the imaginations of great artists who have been, and continue to be, piqued by the spirit, impertinence and timelessness of this perfect dress, an essential article in every woman’s wardrobe. Fashion, perfume, photography…the Little Black Dress saunters from one to the other, flourishing in the intertwining worlds of every creator inspired by its folds. The exhibition is in three parts, with a historical section in the form of vintage prints from the collections of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (Paris), a contemporary dimension presided over with flair by Chinese photographer Liu Bolin, and a glimpse into the future presented with enthusiasm and remarkable mastery by the students of Gobelins, l’École de l’image.
