The multidisciplinary artist Paolo Ventura uses photography to document a fictional reality of his own making. He meticulously constructs miniature cities, streets, buildings and interiors populated with small men and women. From time to time, Ventura himself enters the frame, as in the series Le Storie, where he appears dressed as zany and poetic characters.
Photographer, narrator and painter, Ventura depicts possible memories of a world fallen into the dustbin of history. Suspended in an unmoving time, his photographs transport the viewer to a place that, while not real, may have been… It’s a marvelous and melancholic world, a kind of materialization of a dream of childhood reconstructed by the artist.
