A new photography gallery is opening in Aix en Provence. Founded by the photographer/collector duo of Olivia and Vincent Goutal, the Galerie Goutal is exclusively devoted to contemporary photography. It opens its doors today with an exhibition that brings together the works of Jean-Pierre Attal, Gilles Desrozier, Pierre Ollier and the duo formed by Olivia and Vincent Goutal. Jean-Pierre Attal explores the anonymous intimacy of urban society. Gilles Desrozier likes the idea that photography could be the start of an adventure. To realise their wandering between dream and reality, the duo Olivia and Vincent Goutal draw their inspiration from the imaginary world either from advertising, literature, the cinema and above all from the painting of Edward Hopper and Caspar Friedrich. A solitary traveller in search of empty, far-off landscapes, Pierre Oliver brings us into the Tabernas desert in Spain with his series C.L.I.N.T.E.A.S.T.W.O.O.D. In this wild landscape that has been used as a movie location and as a tourist destination since the twentieth century, the artist goes on the trail of Sergio Leone. As a first exhibition it is amazing in its creativity.
