Greetings from Alfred
Did I think of the stingy expression to save on color or was it stingy of efforts by staying in the garden watching the surrounding birds?
Did I think of the monochrome coat of the penguin from Zig et Puce which gave its first name to the title?
Did I think of the fact that 27% of city birds have disappeared in 30 years, sometimes summing up their presence in a simple silhouette?
Did I think of Alfred, this tall, slender man with the head of a sparrow, who had lived 39-45 in Dunkirk and recounted these terrible years of war each time he came to say hello to my paternal grandmother. I wondered then what had become of the birds under this bombardment sky.
Did I finally think of Hitchcock’s film “The Birds”, and their disturbing flights, when starting this series?
