The Frac MÉCA, with the support of the Nouvelle- Aquitaine region, is launching an ambitious program of photographic commissions, entrusting 9 subjects to 9 artists. This two-year project will culminate in a major exhibition in Bordeaux in 2024, accompanied by a catalog.

This project was initiated by Claire Jacquet, director of the Frac, and Gilles Mora, historian and exhibition curator, who helped create the Frac’s rich photographic collection in the early 1980s. He acquired almost 400 photographs, reconstructing the history of this medium in the 20th century (August Sander, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Diane Arbus, Robert Frank…), mainly in Europe and the United States.
