“I pursued this personal work over several seasons, satisfying my appetite for photographing this region of France we hear so little about, but which seems so theatrical to me: Sarthe. This is a rural society with its own rhythms. I felt that I only had to let it express itself, showing the romantic dimensions of even the most mundane scenes.”
In 2005, after a first career, Nicolas Krief chose to explores other modes of expressions and devote himself entirely to photography. He takes pictures for the national press and other private and institutional sponsors, when not working on his own projects. His photographs observe how private life is expressed in the public sphere, in particular that of business, the many directions in which his subjects are torn, between the codified postures they show to the world, and what they show about who they truly are, despite themselves.
