In this new project, Nicolas Henry no longer showcases grandparents around the world as he did earlier, but entire communities, focusing on changes in traditions, nature, and family, but also on discrimination and the right to choose the one you love.
These participative stagings (which made the photographer successful), even more spectacular than his previous work, are composed of oversized scenery bordering on theater and installation. They were created with the help of part of the village or neighborhood.
In the preface of this book published by Albin Michel, the author Irina Brooke writes, “Nicolas Henry’s photos are a perfect demonstration of this mythic Shakespearian quote: ‘All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players.’ Thanks to his poetic and unique way of photographing the world in which we live, he restores the glory of humanity in a magic and utopian vision, where the beauty of man and nature shines in each image.”
