Instead of photographing New York in its verticality, I tried to show its vibrant street life against a background of shop windows and signs. At first, my eye was caught by delivery trucks, buses and the high-quality graphic design. Then I discovered the incredible diversity of the city’s food trucks.
I deliberately photographed them horizontally and in their surroundings as much as possible, given traffic jams or the width of certain streets. It was a big hunt across a vast terrain, and I was able to capture some 400 vehicles. But there are many more still out there…
