You still have some days left, to discover the Breda Photo festival. Until October 21st, the Dutch city greets the work of 55 different photographers.
For this fifth edition, BredaPhoto bets on the international. The theme this year is “homo empathicus”, in opposition to homo economicus. During the current economic crisis period, empathy could be an option to consider. Among the exhibitions, documentaries and testimonies are on display. Mikhael Subotzky bring us images from South African jails. Teun Voeten documentes the Mexican drug war gangs and its victimes. Lisa Spillaert, who was in Japan during the Fukushima nuclear disaster presentes her photo diary. Some photographers stages themselves. Like Maarten Van den Bossche for instance, with a puppet. Or the brilliant series of Bert Sissingh, who questions the relationship between generations, which change with the age, sometimes are reversed. Photographer, collectives, young and more experienced are invited. Twenty years after he passed away, a tribute to Peter Martens is organized. In another register, the Yamamoto Masao’s prints are exhibited. Finally, a exhibition on the young Korean photography in featured, built with the contribution of Kyungwoo Chun.
