In the Au Bonheur du Jour gallery in Paris, about one hundred photographs of bodybuilders from 1945 to 1965, by famous photographers: Bruce of Los Angeles, Western Photography Guild, Lon of New York, Earl Forbes, Käroll of Havana, Arax, Ferrero …
These last two, are very famous, and marked their time with many images, Arax, most of the time realised his shots in his studio and Ferrero in the open air overlooking the city of Nice. These photos were banned from display and were marketed by catalogs addressed to collectors who picked their favorite models.
You can admire today, among the most legendary: François Rossi, Bud Lanter, Robert Duranton, Hollfelder, Marcel Rouet, El Vidès, Rick Wayne, Steve Reeves, Reg Park, and many others.
Each image has on the back the signature stamp of the photographer and often the name of the model.
Some bodybuilders are in total nudity and others in g-string, the “Posing touch”, also called French cachette. These “adornments”, as well as some magazines on the theme of bodybuilding: Iron Man, Tomorow Man, Physics, Physics, are also in my gallery and will be offered for sale, even after the exhibition.
