As part of Mois de la Photo du Grand Paris, the Salle Wagram in Paris is exhibiting Yann Rabanier’s photographs taken during the Cannes Festival 2016 for the magazine Télérama.
In the heat of the city, leaving the dark theaters, a photographer waits patiently, far from the red carpet and camera flashes, in the hallway of a hotel, on a beach or in a club, how the tension fades, in the time of a photo, an encounter. Yann Rabanier is this photographer. He envisions his images like those of a fiction film with, in the credits, some stars, major filmmakers, actresses, actors, directors often undiscovered, coming from the entire world, newly arrived in the heart of the festival, in the effervescence of La Croisette. He promises them that he will try to be quick. He is often able to keep his promise. The scene repeats itself more than ten times a day. Never does he lose patience. Each time, he gently guides them into a universe where they are turned into heroes, glorified by his light, his improbable accessories, his framing, and, finally, above all, by his limitless and fearless imagination. That is where his strength lies, and it is what separates him from any other.
