The gallery Leggermente Fuori Fuoco started its activity in 2008 in the south of Italy. It has always been interested in local issues and in the last years has produced photographic missions on the urban landscape of Salerno. Of Pierpaolo Lista that the gallery is showing at MIAFair 2012.
Gillo Dorfles says: ” In his photographic works Pierpaolo Lista portrays something that does not exist, actually, that is why we might name them photo-concepts. They are often conceptual images reproduced by means of photography, and to me this seems to be the very foundation of his work. He builds an image, instead of “finding” it ready and arranged for his camera. And this image contains elements that are definitely conceptual. Considered from this point-of-view, Pierpaolo’s photographic work appears to me as something absolutely unique. Photography is an occasion to create a highly imaginative experience.
Lista’s technique is almost extraordinary: it is mostly based on simple lines, fragments and objects which are nearly invisible and yet, thanks to shadows or perspectives, eventually acquire that special intensity that turns them from simply virtual into actual ones. And so there is a relation between virtuality and actuality that is almost always present. They are not mere pictures, but photo-concepts also because in each work there is something literary, carefully built in a literary sense. In conclusion, the image itself is not the only important factor since these images want to tell us a story, also through their titles.””
