Originated from Paris as a nomad-gallery directed by the curator Ekatherina Iragui, the gallery travelled over France and Russia through a fusion of exhibitions and special events both in art institutions and non-traditional spaces, and finally, was installed in Moscow.
Galerie Iragui presents Russian artists at the European art scene, prompts their participation in international projects and integration in the global art context.
In addition to the Russian contemporary artists, ‘Galerie Iragui’ actively engages French emerging artists of the new generation in its projects in Russia.
The presented series ‘Metaphysics of Snow’ by Carlo Pisa is a part of a bigger research project on introspective language. The author focuses on the attention to the inner world of the viewer, suggesting him not only an emotional contact, but an aesthetic contemplation. The new awareness and sensation could be found through the process of self-immersion, in a silent effort, in abstraction from the visible flow.
Living in the village of Mednoe, a small quite place between Saint-Petersburg and Moscow, Carlo Pisa perceives the ‘coldness’ and the ‘whiteness’ of severe winter with his authentic Mediterranean sensibility. The snow of his works is almost transparent. This is a best-case story of how interculturality can reveal itself in contemporary art.
