Her name sounds French, but her background is Haitian. Soon, this July, she will discover Paris, something she has dreamed of for a long time. Two weeks ago at the Parson School of Design in New York, she participated in a portfolio review the school organizes for students in their final year, giving them the opportunity to meet face to face with photo professionals, including the talented photographer Jen Davis. After a few quick tips—twenty minutes in all—we had lunch together and discussed her work and her future. Marjorie’s photographs are rather classical, but they have a naturalness to them which is no longer welcome in fashion photography. They capture the beauty of the moment, in black and white, that show a deep sensitivity and an incredible eye for the human figure.
