French Minister of Culture and Communication Françoise Nyssen appointed Marion Hislen as her Photo Delegate. She will integrate the Directorate General of Artistic Creation. Specific missions was asked to the former French curator, founder and director of Fetart such as having ‘a permanent dialogue with artists and professionals of the sector’. She will coordinate a major photographic State policy, so far relatively absent.
Until now, Marion Hislen was the artistic director of Parisian-festival Les Rencontres du 10e. Graduated from a DESS in sociology, she founded the association Fetart in 2005 while trying to highlight young international photographers. In 2011, she created festival Circulation(s). As curator, Marion Hislen organized the Paris-Beijing, the first retrospective devoted to contemporary Chinese photography. She also created several exhibitions for Centquatre and the Rencontres d’Arles.
Its former Fetart association will be led by its new president Jerome Kohler. Celine Laurent and Perrine Depieuvre will coordinate the 2018 edition of the festival.
