Created in 2007 on the initiative of Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière in partnership with the Académie des beaux-arts, of which he is a member, this prize rewards a confirmed photographer, male or female, French or foreign, working in France, with no age limit, author of an original photographic project.
This prize, held every two years since 2018, is endowed with an amount of 30,000 euros.
The winning project is shown, at the end of a 2-year working period, in the form of an exhibition at the Pavillon Comtesse de Caen of the Académie des beaux-arts (Palais de l’Institut de France).
For 15 years, this competition has enabled a photographer to carry out a major project in a spirit of complete freedom as to themes or photographic writing.
