Take a look at this original photographic installation composed of prints by Stephan Zaubitzer and the projection of a film by Antoine Ferrando based on the work of Olivier Hodasava.

“My plan is to photograph movie theatres around the world. With the advent of video and television, the existence of movie theatres is threatened. Except in Burkina Faso, practically every West African country has seen its cinemas close one after the other. At the opening ceremony of the 2006 Cannes festival, the Malian director Souleymane Cissé decried the absence of movie theatres in Africa. Like film, photography is born with light. But cinema is the art of the moving image and editing, a shared public space. The movie theatre makes the neighborhood and vice-versa, when a movie theatre closes, it loses a part of its soul. Producing a work of photography on the subject is a way to resist its inevitable decline.”

“Every day, I set up somewhere: Manchester, Las Vegas, Tokyo, Krasnoyarsk, Salem, Monluçon. I walk around, looking. I’m not using my legs, however, but my mouse… I’m sitting in front of a screen. I let myself get carried away. I’ve been doing this for four years now, wandering daily through a kind of space, an immaterial world: Street View. I like the ritual: turning on my computer, opening Firefox and Google Maps, choosing a destination. At first I like flying over the place I’m going to explore, and if I were about to touch down. Like some military general, I look down on the neighborhoods, the streets, the zones. You can tell a lot from a satellite image. What’s striking, when you take a step back, is how my journey is a journey through time. The world I’m seeing is a photographic record of the past. It’s a ghost: the images date from 2011, 2010. Sometime they’re even older. “
