Renown American war photographer Lynsey Addario, born in 1973, will see her life adapted in movies. Rights of her autobiography It’s What I Do : Photographer’s Life of Love and War (Penguin Press, 2015) were acquired by Warners Bros. Steven Spielberg is expected to lead the film, while Jennifer Lawrence might play the role of Lynsey Addario.
Detained as a hostage in 2011 in Yemen, Lynsey Addario was particularly acclaimed for her photographic reports on transsexual prostitution in New York (Transexual Prostitution New York, 1999), her look at women soldiers in the US Army (Women at War, for the NY Times, 2010), her covers of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. She as brought knowledge to many conflicts in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Madagascar, Uganda, Darfur and Southern Sudan, while paying particular attention to social and health issues of her own country.
Lynsey Addario has contributed to NY Times, Time Magazine, Newsweek and National Geographic. She received the Infinity Award by the ICP in 2002 and the Pullitzer Award in 2009.
