When Jean-Jacques Naudet asked if my magazine, South x Southeast, would like to provide the editorial for this year’s LOOK3, Festival of the Photograph, I jumped at the opportunity.
We are fortunate to have great festivals in the U.S., but LOOK3 stands out as one of my favorites. The opportunity to acquaint and reacquaint myself with the movers and shakers of the documentary photography and photojournalism world, hear them speak, and attend exhibitions of their work, all neatly packaged into one week, is an opportunity none of us should miss. These are the storytellers of our age. And LOOK3 and Charlottesville give them a beautiful stage on which to share their stories.
The EDU portion of the week is simply stellar. There’s something for everyone, those of you just entering the world of photography, and those of us who have been here awhile but whose skills are maybe a little rusty. . . Prepare to be motivated!
And then there’s the networking. That alone is worth the price of admission. But, I’ll let you see that for yourself.
