The Swedish gallery Fotografiska recently announced the opening of the London Museum of Photography in the Whitechapel Gallery building, located in London’s East End. This private museum will be designed and built by the Fetcher Priest Architects agency. Fotografiska was created by brothers Jan and Per Broman.
The museum will echo the Swedish Museum of Photography, opened in 2010 by Fotografiska in Stockholm. The London museum will occupy the area of 27,000m2. An atrium, a coffee and a bar will side visitors. The opening is scheduled for autumn 2018.
Neither the director nor the curatorial team are yet known.
