After spending a year locked in my room, shooting naked women lying on a bed for the series La chambre rose, it seemed like it was time to go out into the world, get lost, somewhere in the forest, and photograph a divine kind of reality, feline and feminine.
I find that our illusions are as much promises of happiness as they are of destruction, arson as much as bonfire. They remind us of a time when gods, men and animals were side by side, conspiring, copulating and giving birth.
It was into this primitive, animal relationship that we were born, and deep down, in our essence, it still drives us.
With the series Chimère, I wanted to translate into images the natural and instinctive power that each woman carries within her.
The characteristics of each species metaphorically shed light on the feminine psyche. The same body appears in different forms.
We remain human, but there is an animal within.
