Levon Brooks and Kennedy Brewer were wrongfully convicted of crimes which they did not commit. Together they spent 32 years in Parchman Penitentiary. They were exonerated through the efforts of the Innocence Project NY and MIP. These are photographs of them and their families, friends, and life in Macon and Brooksville, Mississippi where they grew up a few miles away from each other.
The project will be published by PowerHouse Books in the Fall of 2015. The release will coincide with an exhibition in Oxford, Mississippi, the first of several venues in the US in the future. More information at http://mississippiinnocence.org
