On Tuesday, December 13, 2016, the AFD 2016 awards were presented at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, following introductions by Edwy Plenel, president and founder of the magazine Mediapart.
This year’s award winners are:
In the “AFD / Nikon Prize for the Best Multimedia Work” category
Anne Paq, for Obliterated Families (Palestinian territories / the Gaza Strip), who is awarded a Nikon D500 kit with zoom lens.
In the “AFD / Libération Special Prize for the Best Photo Report” category
Corentin Fohlen, for Les Possibilité d’une île (Haiti), who receives €5,000 plus a double page spread and an exhibition at the AFD headquarters.
In the “AFD / Polka Grand Prix for the Best Photo Report Project” category
Pascal Maitre, for Quand l’Afrique s’éclairera (Ethiopia, Benin, and Senegal), who receives €15,000 plus 16 pages in Polka Magazine and exhibitions at the MEP and at the Festival Étonnants Voyageurs.
