L’Emoi Photographique of Angoulême

Preview

This year, L’Emoi Photographique, the festival that is taking place in Angoulême and around in Charente, has invited Warren Saré, Jean-Daniel Guillou and Jean-Michel Leligny, all three chosen to illustrate the theme “History and stories”. Twenty photographers, half of whom have never been shown, were also chosen after a call for application. And for this 2017 edition, four African photographers, are also exhibiting because L’Emoi Photographique is also an international festival.

History, a story, stories, reports, truths, confessions, lies, tales, legends… The photographers  were chosen because, according to the organisers, they offered a wide range of what can be drawn from the word history. Each brings a facet of history plunging into family links, human values or in the imagination that characterises the human species so well. “It seems important to us to support commitments by way of photography and therefore give voice to those who have found out how to do it. For the duration of the festival some of the photographers will develop their points of view in meetings with the public, to share their experiences, sometimes with other contributors” they explain.
