Genesis according to Facebook: a mangled rainbow, a computer monitor frame, the last days of the city of angels… Le songe, la raison et les monstres reunites four artists making innovations in the medium of photography: Constance Nouvel, Paul Rousteau, Mathieu Tonetti and Z-M.
They all share an interest in the status of the photographic image, calling it into question and subjecting it to their experiments.
Whether it’s a question of rehabilitating the physicality of the image, of its relationship to painting and sculpture, of its status in the context of the Internet, or of its classic definition as a document purporting to be truth, these four artists enter the debates that have surrounded photography since its appearance in the arts.
To give this joyous experiment full rein, the exhibition is conceived like a poetic interaction between images and objects, ready for whatever surprises might result.
