At the initiative of the Award, LE BAL, ADAGP and the Ministry of Culture have chosen to support emerging creation in France by supporting the work of a young artist over two years.
Awarded every two years, this Prize is intended for photographers and / or videographers under the age of 40 who are French or have resided in France for at least one year. It aims to support the winner for two years in the realization of a creative project that has already started. Priority will be given to projects falling within the broad spectrum of image-document, articulating political / societal and aesthetic issues.
An endowment of 20,000 euros will allow the artist to complete his project. At the end of the two years, his work will be the subject of an exhibition at BAL with the publication of a monograph.
The winner will (also) benefit from a portrait filmed and broadcast on the Arte site as well as a dedicated presentation on the walls of the ADAGP.
The jury, made up of personalities from the world of visual arts, will meet on October 19, 2021 to distinguish the winner after hearing 5 to 10 shortlisted candidates.
All the shortlisted artists will benefit during the year 2022 of two days of masterclasses and meetings with professionals (publishers, graphic designers, heads of institutions, critics, artists, collectors, etc.) in order to enrich, develop their creation project and to generate fruitful collaborations around their work.
